Fuel injection problem 200

I see. Yes, I've done the same -- I had forgotten about it.

No clue where to buy the Bosch gauge kit without taking out a mortgage on your house. I have a friend with a one-man, Volvo-only shop, and he lends me equipment as compensation for the times I lend him a hand solving an unsolveable problem.

The best resource for this is the Volvo "green" manual set. I have the complete set for these cars, and they're worth their weight in gold.

Also, the book from Bentley, Bosch Fuel Injection and Engine Management is a clear, well written, and thorough resource for your FI and other versions found on Volvos.

I'd bet a cold beer that your control pressure regulator is screwed up. Measuring the various fuel pressures would confirm or deny this suspicion. The CPR is relatively easy to remove, disassembly, clean, reassemble, and reinstall. But if you've never worked on one, it might be a puzzling task.

You might also want to confirm that your frequency valve (and its relay) are working properly. You should hear it buzzing and stuttering as the engine idles (even if you have to cheat by holding the sensor plate up). The frequency valve modifies the control pressure to maintain a certain oxygen level in the exhaust gas. It may be possible that one type of failure or malfunction would drive the control pressure up (which would lean the mixture) enough so the sensor plate cannot lift off its rest position when cranking.
