'84 245 vibrates VERY badly 200

I have an '84 245 2.3L Automatic with 102K miles on it. When I goto take off the car vibrates very badly, and continues to vibrate at speed, although it lessens. When I goto slow down the whole car will vibrate and shudder- it acts like the tranny isnt shifting down into a lower gear like it should, but it is shifting correctly. It will hum and vibrate when I am slowing down, the noise/vibrations will start at around 20 mph and do down as I stop.

I am thinking U-Joints- any comments? Is this a hard item to replace? We have taken the driveshaft out of the '81 244 before, but never touched the u-joints on it, do they pop in or do I need a press? Thanks
