Ok guys, car died today and no restart 700 1986

A few days ago I asked the question why my car was bogging down for a split second where the speedo and tach would drop to zero, and then bounce back up when the engine kicked back in. I'm afraid I have little experience with the engine electronics, but people mentioned problems with the hall sensor, ignition pulses to the coil, power stage, and coil. However, one poster said that problems with these would not cause the speedometer to go to zero, only the tachometer. Since the speedo did go to zero, what else should I check? I will check for spark and fuel (by smell). I will also figure out which wires I should carefully examine using a shop manual (I looked for obvious problems already).

Maybe I shouldn't have asked about this a few days ago, I jinxed my poor car.
Thanks,
Nathan
