Oil Pump? 900

Hi All!

I'm new to the BrickBoard, and you folks seem to have all the answers. I drive a '95 940 wagon, so far we love it; perfect for hauling the dogs around. We bought it with around 90K miles, and it's at 130K now.

Here's my problem. The oil pressure light has started coming on at idle. It seems to come on after the engine is warm at about 800 to 900 RPM. As soon as I get above 1000, it goes out. The fisrt thing I did was change the oil and filter since it had been awhile. That didn't do it. I then drained a quart of oil and replaced it with ATF (assuming that the extra detergents would clean any gunk that might be plugging up sensors or strainers.) The problem is still there after 200 miles of driving, so my next guess is the oil pump.

So my questions are: Does this sound like the oil pump? If so, what is involved with replacing the pump, and how much will it cost? And what else could it be?

Thanks in advance for your help!

-Paul
