Installing small tach: How? 200

I found the small (52 mm) tach at the junkyard today, and was surprised to see the number of wires connected to it: Four wires leading from "somewhere" (grey, black, thicker black, red/blue), and an fifth black one doing a cute loop from one connector to another. I think I had expected to find, I don't know, one wire for lights, one from the distributor and one for ground.

When I remove the radio, can I expect to find the wires ready to be connected, or is this too much to hope for? Alternatively, could anyone help me with a scan of the original installation instructions? -Or provide encouraging and instructive comments?

Thanks,
Erling.
