Modified 142s 140-160

So let me get this straight. Your saying that the carbs are really complex, and shouldnt be modified. And that Volvo did it for a reason so stock settings are best. But if you do modify them you should just file? a flat on the needle becuase it doesn't matter if it is round? And to test the ground part you need a dyno and everything? How does anybody modify anything then? I have never seen a dyno like that but I have seen lots of modified cars.
