Multi car questions, i have a few that have various strengths and weakneses 200

Hey all,
I have a wrecked 245 that is an 83 and i just bought a "new" 245 that is an 82. My question is, can i somehow move the overdrive unit from the 83 into the 82 which does not have an overdrive. if i can how feasible is it and will it even make anydifference in the cars performance, ie. gas mileage?

any help you guys can give would be great!
