Door switches getting persnickety 200

HI you all,
On the 240's door switches which have the rubber covers, the rubber gets less flexible, so switch may not extend far enough to work right.

So, have you just removed that rubber cover and run without? How long before the ambient ubiquitous airborne crud messed up the swich? If ever?
