B23E in 1989 240 200

Hi

I have an informative question about transplanting an B23E engine into a 1987 240 wagon.

First of all the story - a friend of mine drives a ´87 240 wagon. Now he has some problems with the current engine - B230F with 115 hp and the LH jetronic injection system. He found a backside crashed 1980 sedan with a completely intact B23E (140hp M46 gearbox) engine with less than 100.000 miles on it.

Is such a "back to the roots" transplantation possible?

Moreover how about the cat system - would the lambda sond and the emission control system work with the old B23E engine?

Finally, how about the transmission - the B23E was delivered either with a M46 (overdrive) manual gearbox or with the BW55 automatic transmission. Currently he runs the M47 manual gearbox. Will the 140hp engine be compatible with the M47 or should he transplant the M46 of the possible donor car either?

Thanks for any input

Lots of greetings

Ciao -- M.P.
