You did not reveal doing distributor work in your first post. That would have helped. If the distributor is assembled 180º out of phase, the car won't run.

Instead of asking what the sympoms would be if the distributor was assembled incorrectly, why don't you state the symptoms instead of leaving us guessing?

A correctly asembled distributor is shown in the picture below. The drive dog is offset towards the indexing slot for the rotor. In the picture you can see the slot on the side away from my thumb, and drive dog is offset the same way.
