Well my electric fan conversion is complete... almost, I was quite anxious to get it done because the clutch fan was sounding like a couple of marbles rolling around in a coffee can, Read a post that someone used the wires to the horn for a "switched" hot... handy as all get out for a temporary power source... IF you don't mind the horn blowing all the time, a couple of days of that gets REAL old.
tried the empty lug on the coil... worked great till you shut the car off. the engine stays on for a little... the tach and speedo spin kinda crazy like... the dash lights and idiot lights flicker and flash and the fuel pump can't decide weather to shut off or not.. visions of a Steven King book plot, (and a fried ECU) flicker through my mind, I never even thought about the fan generating untill it slowed down.
So... untill I'm back under the hood in a few days, I connected it to the wire from the fire wall to the A/C compressor, It now is switched by the knob on the dash, it takes a few seconds for the fan to come one and sounds like it is powering through a relay. Is this ok or am I "playing with fire" I have scrounged a relay and hope to figure out a thermostat in the block for it shortly but would like to run it like this for a week or two.
