Quick Alternator Question 200 1990

When removing my alternator inorder to install new access. bushings, I didn't realize that there was a third wire connected to the alternator. Reinstalling it, I only connected the two obvious ones. The one I'm talking about (as you've probably guessed) is the one nearest the oil pressure sender. Drove it this way for ~2hrs (somewhere inbetween the battery did die, that's another story...just like anyone else) and when I got home closer inspection revealed the "missing" wire. Reconnected and I'm still having charging issues.

Would driving without this wire connected affect the functionality of the alternator? Could I/Did I fry anything in the ~2hrs that it was unattached?

Thanks for your help,
Zuda
