Mystery Stall/Hesitation--any ideas? 1800 1971

OK
So here is the mystery stall/hesitation that I can't figure out. 1971 Volvo 1800e with a recently replaced fuel pump and new spark plugs. The car runs and starts fine and I can drive it with out any problems, but then irradically, it will stall while driving for no apparent reason. At times the stall will be nothing more than a brief hesitation but twice it's stalled to the point of coming to a rolling stop and refusing to restart. When it's done this the car will turn over, but will not jump to life, though after a bit it will be fine as if nothing happend.

Any ideas what this might be?

my appreciation for any thoughts or ideas
