Replacing Headgasket on 93 940 900

Next tuesday I will be pulling the head off my 93 940 and having it surfaced at the machine shop. I will also be replacing the 3 seals, and the knock sensor. I got a check engine light today for the knock sensor and the AMM is there a testing procedure for the AMM? Do most machine shops stock the shims to do adjust the valves on volvos? I guess I should call and ask if he can adjust them for me. IF not i'll have them adjusted after I get the head back on. Can anyone think of anything else I should do while I have the head off? The h20 pump and timing belt are brand new.
Thanks,
Gil
