Front wheel noise / vibration 900 1991

If yours is the same as my '95 960, the front wheel bearings are part of the hub assy. Volvo will sell you a new hub for about $250.00 US. Try jacking the front wheels off the ground and then try to wobble the wheel top to bottom and side to side. Any side to side play indicates a worn tie rod end. Top to bottom play may be a bad wheel bearing. The hub nut is torqued to a very high level (forget exactly, but something like 125 ft-lb plus 45 degrees). The nuts are not reusable.

One of mine went bad when the grease seal disintigrated letting salt, water and sand in. I am still living with it and soon will dig in to see if there is away of pressing out the bearing and installing a new one.
