cylinder wall cracking at water jacket 900 1992

What gives! This is the second time in less than six months that the outside water jacket on my 92 960 has cracked causing water in the oil and coolant leeking by the exhaust manifolds. Has there been a problem with these engine blocks? The car only has 110,000 miles on it and is in great shape. I found another block from a 94, but I am a little intimidated about replacing engine again untill I find out what is going on. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Sped.
