Help! Door Hinge Problem 700 1988

Tried to fix loud "click, click" when driver's side door is opened. Someone had suggested moving the wire spring up to cure the problem. When I tried to do that, I disengaged the top end of the spring from the pocket that retains it. Then when the door fell shut, the bottom end also got out of position.

Now the spring is swung around to the wrong side of the hinge, and I can't get it back. It looks like I could if the hinge was in the closed position(door would be closed, and it would not be accessable). Seems I have to remove the door. Is there an easier way?

If not, any advice on removing the door would be appreciated.

I plan on starting in the morning, so I have all day.
