mine too 140-160 1968

My 68 144 and 70 164 both had problems with the doors not staying
latched. One had an obvious crack in the striker plate thingy on
the car side (not door side) but the others didn't. The early plates
seem to be made of some crappy metal that wears and cracks. I've
replaced all mine with rear plates from 73 and 74 144/145/164s and
that seems to have solved the problems.

You may be tempted to use a plate that looks the same from a 245.
If you do your door will not close correctly until you remove it and
put on one from a 140.
