Starting Woes........Help!!!?!?!?!? 200

Hi,

I have a '82 242 turbo.

Car has been running beautifully all winter and yesterday all day.

When I went out last evening to run to the store I turned the key and heard a click then everything went completely dead. No lights, no nothing.

I checked the terminals and they were a little loose so I cleaned them and the battery posts and put them back on.

Tried again and the exact same thing happened. I thought maybe the battery needed charging so I hooked up the charger and charged battery.

Went out again before I went to bed and tried to start it again. Same thing happened, but I found out if I jiggle the positive cable I get juice again. When I turn the key everything dies until I jiggle the positive cable again.

The starter had a bad spot on it, but never was a problem and hasn't ever gotten worse.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Mark
