940 shifter dissembly 900

Hey I have a 94 940 with the rounded one piece shifter... the main shift button is on the front, while the overdrive shift button is on the back. The overdrive switch has gone south, there is no return pressure, like the switch has broke.

I need to replace the overdrive switch. A previous posted has stated that the way to remove the shifter stalk is to put it into neutral and pull straight up... I have tried that to no avail. Is there some secret to this? There are no visible reveals to pry apart on the shifter, all I see are mould lines from when this thing was cast. Please help.

-Kelly
