What you have is a bad ground. You probably knocked it loose with the battery removal/installation. I'm not sure exactly where the connection is , but, my best guess is that it's attatched to the inner fender in the battery compartment area. It could also just be rusty. Locate the ground wire and make sure it is tightly attatched to shiny metal. without a good ground lights (and other electrical items) will do some wierd things.
