'89 740 turbo squealing? 700

I have a 740 that has been abused and have piled a ton of money into it.
New Head gasket, new radiator, new timing belts, new front end, new brakes.....
and now the turbo is squealing. The car has about 95,000 original miles on it.
Now this has happened, the car drove fine for the last two months and then it starts to squeal with acceleration and then when it is warm it squeals all the time.
My question is, after reading the archived forums is that, it sounds like the turbo is shot and that it will have to be replaced. Can I disconnect the turbo so that I do not have to annoy the general public and embarass myself to drive this 740 until I save the cash to fix the turbo. If it can be disconnected is there any links that describe the procedure. Do I do any damage running the car w/o the turbo functioning? Any help greatly appreciated.
Nick
