Overdrive issues: Update

First things first. Do your back up lights work? Since the OD and back up lights share the same harness underneath, maybe you did get the wires crossed.

If not, you have had one of those wierd coincidences where a part is failing and it shows up just after you have done something else.

IF not electrical, your solenoid on the OD has bad seals internally and is becoming locked ON by the fluid being pushed past the seals. After sitting for a few hours it drains out and all acts as normal.

Inside the solenoid from the brass end to the terminals is: circlip, plug with O-ring, piston with two O-rings, iron slug inside coil area and terminals.

Remove the solenoid and remove the circlip at the brass end. This will allow the internal piston to come out with no, a few, or a lot of stabs toward a soft landing area. DO NOT SEPARATE the soleniod brass barrel from the coil body. $$$$ to replace solenoid.

Once the piston is out, you have to clean out the inside of the coil body with some electrical cleaner but have to hold the iron slug out of the way or it acts as a stopper and will not allow the fluid to drain out.

I sell the O-rings for the solenoid as a kit.
