945 crooked sun roof back end 900 1993

I just noticed the back end of the 945's sun roof sits unevenly, along with
some more quick observations:

- I first noticed it with the left rear coner tilted up.
- I operated the sun roof backwards all the way, and it seemed ok in this
position, and glided without noticeable noise.
- I then closed it. It made a rapid noise which sounded "eg-eg-eg...". At
the end of the travel, the left rear now then sat flush with the roof,
and the right rear corner is below the roof by about 3/8 to 1/2 an inch.
- I then tiled it up, and heard similar noise but a little louder noise
as when closing it from slide open position. The left rear corner came
tilted up, but the right rear one barely made to the roof.

I tried the above several times and the results seemed to be the same.

My questions are:
1. What could have caused this? Could a dropping soccer ball, say, have
bumped the control mechanism or sheet metal out of alignment?
2. How do I diagnose it?
3. Is it fixable by myself? I consider myself as having slightly above average
automotive skill. (I have printed a copy of sun roof section in the
700/900FAQ.)

Much TIA,
Lih-Yen
