Hello

I've just recently discovered a hole caused by rust (picture) on my old Volvo 760 GLE -83. I have never fixed rust before and thats why I ask how to fix the hole in the best way. The hole is just under the front passager door as you can see on the picture. Any ideas how to do this in a good way so it dont fall apart again anytime soon? And is that a commonly seen place for rustholes? Or can it have been caused by something else?
