help w/ no power & overheat. 200 1984

hi guys.... i'm hoping you all can help me out with this one... in the morning my car has NO initial power at all (even with the gas pedal completely depressed). i always let it warm up for a few minutes before driving it, and it seems to slowly gain power after about 5 minutes of highway driving. i'm curious as to whether this would have to do with the injectors possibly, or compression. also, i have yet to clean my flame trap (actually i have no idea where the hell it is on the engine). would this cause some oil to accumulate on the air filter element? lastly, my car has been to the inspection station twice now and both times, after driving on the highway for about 45-50 minutes and then sitting on line for about 5 minutes with the car in park, it started to overheat. (actually the first time it completely overheated and dropped it's coolant on the floor.) the funny thing is that once i topped it off and got back on the road, the temp. dropped immediately and it ran fine. any chances of sensors, radiator, etc.? thanks so much eveyone!

by the way, it's a 1984 245DL with the 2.3L.

Chris
