Front seats...... Lumbar repair? 200

Hi all,

I'm having some problems with my driver's seat ('82 245, brown tweed cloth interior). I was adjusting it (OK, OK... playing around with it) the other day, and turned the lumbar knob to the widest position.

Now, when I re-tighten it, only the left-hand side moves; the right-hand side is fully out (looks like it's gone even further than it "should" go).

Is this a common problem, and/or something that can be fixed?

Do I need to remove the seat to do exploratory surgery? How do I "open" the seat to work on it?

The car's been sitting for 18 months, and I'm putting it back on the road, so I'm sure I'll have lots of other questions!
