No Start 700 1989

I had a starting problem on my car. The solenoid was loose on the starter and was able to rotate. I replaced it, everything was fine. Three days later, the car has the same symptoms. The key is turned, and nothing. Now, the headlights go out. I rapped on the solenoid a few times, and it cranked for about 1/2 sec. Now nothing. Is this another bad solenoid, or a dead battery, or ?

The car is in a parking lot, so will return to look at it sometime tomorrow. Any help would be appreciated.

Ed Fedor
