'91 945 SE, unplug amm > high idle > plug back in - stalls, bad amm? 900

Troubleshooting rolling idle, i have found that when engine is acting up
unplugging amm makes engine idle smooth but higher. when I plug amm back in
engine stalls immediately, is this normal and bad diagnostic idea or have I
identified bad amm? I have only dont it 2x so far and am looking input before
shelling out $185.00 to FCP groton.
I have already checked o2 sensor set TP to specs.
