Dawes mixture (o2 read out)with the 4 leds-It indicates a red lamp(.75-90)am I too lean under boost? 700 1989

I Installed the Dawes mixture device today and according the the led's display I am running too lean under boost(.75-.90 volts)Fuel pressure is good and does increase with pressure applied to the pressure regulator, could a bad AMM be at fault?I am supposed to increase the mixture to compensate, what methods are availible and is it possble the o2 is faulty? When I tap into the co test lead on the r/h fender it indicates the o2 is going from lean to rich and the dawes unit is flashing on and off as if the o2 is responding, should the o2 sensor go to 1 volt under full boost or is this too much to ask of the o2 sensor,I am keeping my foot out of it until I know it's safe.
