Measuring Amperage... 200

I measured the amperage across the Transfer Fuel Pump fuse and got "0" A.

so I checked for voltage at the connection to the pump (under the rear floor of my wagon) and 12 V existed there... (as well as a clear sound of a pump whirring) so I checked for amperage across that connector and got a .1 - .2 A reading sometimes dropping to "0".

the sound of the pump doesn't seem to vary so I have to assume it's working correctly and that I am not measuring amperage correctly.

my meter has a 2 A limit and I'm connecting it "in line" when doing my measurement.

anyone have any thoughts on what I might be doing wrong?

thanks,

jack
