240 front struct cartridge replacement tips ? 200

It has been a while ( 8 yrs) and I need to do again on a 1986 model wagon . Is it necessary to pull the tubes all the way off the car like I remember doing last time or can I swing them out without disconnecting a reconnecting sway bar, tie rod ends , ball joints . Could some run through the quick method for me . - thanks
