wet engine 700 1990

I decided to give a little tender loving care and wash (engine too.) It did crank right afterwards. That was 4 days ago. the engine turns over, but it just doesn't seem to hit. It's almost like it has jumped time or something. I did disassemble the distributor and all connections that I could find to remove - dry off all moisture. Am I missing something. Obviously didn't like the bath. I looke in the Swissbrick website and only saw one thing I haven't checked. Catalytic debris. Any ideas - besides not wetting down. Should I be looking for a short of some kind? I appreciate any input - be kind. 760 turbo
