IPD Transmission Flush Hose 900 1995

I am about to do this on my 95 960. I have the 1/2" ID clear hose and a hose clamp. My question is: Will the transmission be harmed if the transmission sump runs dry? I understand it holds about 2.5 quarts. Also, how long does it take to pump out 2 qts of fluid from the transmission.
