The total fluid capacity of the AW71 transmission is less the 8 qts, more if you have the exta transmission cooler. mixing synthetic & non is fine but you obviously get a blend of their porperties.

I count 6 litres of fluid being used in the green volvo service manual I have. But they no not shift through all the gears until they are done flushing. Maybe shifting through those gears during the flush helps get those 2 extra qts out.

By the way, I have the extra cooler and will be flushing myself soon. Any special tasks for an ATF cooler anyone is aware of?
