Can the AC Blower motor be replaced with GM Blower Motor??? 700 1988

Hi, I am selling my '88 740GL to pay for my new '93 940. The car picked now to have the blower motor just stop working (I have the manual AC speed control, not the "thermostatic" AC. No noise, no bad fuse, just won't move. I tried the "Rubber Mallet Impact Calibration Adjustment" just in case the bearings had suddenly gotten cranky to no effect. In reading the AC FAQ here on the Brickboard, I saw that some people said that the early 80's GM AC blower motors were direct replacements. The local Discount Auto Parts here in Orlando is selling the Volvo blower motors for $75 and the GM blower motors for $20. Has anyone done this before? Are there any voltage problems? Does this have any long term ill effects? (I know that I'm selling the car but I don't want to saddle anyone with a problem)

Thanks in advance!!!
