Does this previously Penta engine have an automotive grind cam or a marine cam? If you're not sure I'd REALLY encourage you to confirm - marine engines often use cams that are designed for nice smooth running at 6000rpms for days on end.

I don't know anything about the Penta applications other than that we (that place where I work) sold a complete B20 rebuild kit to a local gent with a fishing boat a while back - his engine used a *marine* C grind cam; some sources told us this was the same as an automotive C; others disputed.

Customer elected to give it a try and was unable to get past the breakers... very nearly lost his boat altogether as well as his life. Was real serious. Granted, this exact scenario won't happen to you, but I might consider sticking a known cam in there just so you don't end up with a lopey 1400rpm idle and zero low end torque or something similarly difficult to drive on land.
