Car suddenly starts idling poorly.... 200 1990

Hi all,

My 240 suddenly started idling really badly this morning on my way to work. I didn't sense it while on the highway going 80mph. Came to the light and it felt like I was in a fishing boat with a diesel engine. Check Engine light is also on. Did a quick test to verify if it is my AMM bhy unplugging it and restarting the car. Car dies right away....plug it back in, car idles like before (poorly that is), but I guess my AMM is fine. Could it be the O2 sensor? What else should I check? I know of a diagnostic LED near the brake master cylinder. I will check it this afternoon to see what the flash code is. WHat should it be for an O2 sensor?

TIA!
SM
