Heater control valve - alright, WHERE IS IT!?!? 900 1993

I've had the replacement part laying around for a while now, and I need to get it in there, seeing as how the current one is a ticking time bomb. However, I can't seem to find the thing! The Chilton & Haynes manuals are useless in this regard, showing me a million and one different variations of RHD, LHD, manual, automatic, electronic, cable-actuated and vacuum actuated systems. I've got the 3-rotary dial, vacuum-operated, fully-manual system with AC. As best as I can figure, it looks like the valve is inline where the coolant hoses come through the firewall, but that area is completely enclosed in plastic housings that don't look easy to remove. Can somebody please give me a clue?
