Will 83 240 Turbo Accept A InterCooler? 200 1983

Hi Guys-
Just picked up a '83 244 Turbo (I've never owned a turbo - I own 'Gunter'; a '90 244 Auto N/A with 175K miles and I plan to keep it till I retire in 21 years). I have till 12:45 P.M. EST to pick up a intercooler for around $75.


This car will be fixed up (bushings, shocks, synthetics, K&N Air Filter... the whole damn deal-MOST of it under a shade tree) and driven a little more aggressive than the average driver (it's my car, but my 16 year son is going to learn lots from this car--> by working on it and by driving it).


QUESTIONS

(1) I want to preserve this engine; do you strongly suggest I retrofit a intercooler to the engine?

(2)Will this year and particular engine have ANY problem being retrofittd with a intercooler?

I didn't have time to research this in my Haynes or Bentley.
