Turn signals won't cancel 200

My girlfriend borrowed my 240, a 1993, only to return it with something broken in the turn signal lever. Neither the right nor left signal indicator will cancel after making a turn. The lever is kind of floppy too. Is there a fairly simple inspection that I can make to see what has happened? Is this a repair that I could probably make myself, or does it require a trip to the dealer (expensive)? Thank you for your advice!
