Bulb warning relay gone insane? Or?? 200 1977

So here's the scoop: parked the car. All was good. Came back 5 minutes later, my entire right side parking lamps were out (front, tail, AND the rt. license plate) _except_ the rear side marker (it's using the same ground as the rear, so that's ok). To top it off, no instrument panel illumination as well. What the hang happened in those few minutes I was in the store? Gremlins? Can a failing bulb warning relay kill an entire half of a car along with the afore-mentioned guage lighting? BTW, the relay does indeed let me know that half the car is dark....

Thanks much,
Rob
