Brake caliper ID is found..........

On the "door frame" of the trunk opening, top, towards the right. Called the Service Label.

There are four columns, far right being the codes themselves. The other three are the same text, in Swedish, English, French.

Third line down is Brakes. Look at the entry in column 4

Code number 1 means Girling front and rear (probably what you have)
Code number 2 means Girling front, ATE rear.

Make a note for yourself of this and of the code in the bottom Row, Steering Gear. You might have CAM Gear or ZF, the rack and boots differ.

Code number 2 means CAM Gear
Code number 3 means ZF

All this and more is found in the Volvo Service Manual Section 0(03) Specifications for the 240DL, GL, 1986-1988. Almost as good a book to have as the Wiriing Diagrams Manual. Call 1-800-25-VOLVO and order them.

GOod Luck,

Bob
