If you mean the plug at the rear of the cam cover, you could do as my son did with his '88. He let the flame trap plug up and the crankcase pressure blew the seal out. This isn't recommended. To replace it we took off the cam cover and just laid the new one in place with a new cam cover gasket. On my daughter's '84 240 which has the half-round seal, I did the same but used a thin coating of RTV sealer on it. I don't know if there is a way to R & R these seals without taking the cam cover off, but I doubt there is.
