Are overdrive relays or wiring that fragile? (manual transmission) 200 1982

In a 1982 245 with manual 4-speed + overdrive, the overdrive isn't working. It has only been about two years since the relay failed and had to be replaced. Could the relay have failed again? Car has not been driven that many miles, but a fairly high percentage of the miles were highway miles with the overdrive on.

Alternatively, could the wiring in the dash be fragile? I partially removed the center part of the dash to replace a light bulb in there recently. Could that have loosened a wire related to the overdrive in there?
