Testing the Garrett CBV 700

The Garrett CBV is actually a Pierberg unit. Whne the unit fails you get a "stumble" when you let your foot off of the gas pedal unless it is a very slow and easy release.

To test the unit use a rubber hose to and suck on the end of the hose. When you have sucked as much air out of the CBV as you can, stick the tip of your tongue in the end of the hose. Wait a minute and see it it holds the vacuum. If it doesn' hold vacuum, it has a bad diaphram and needs replacement.
