Installing 'new' A cam.....what else to do? 200 1986

I recently acquired an A cam to replace my stupid M cam in my '86 B230F engine. I got it with a re-drilled timing gear with holes for 4-degree advanced and retard (I'm advancing it). So anyways, what else should I do while I'm putting this in? Obviously timing belt and seals. I've read a bunch about checking valve shims and all...what are the cances mine will be out? The other problem is that I won't have the time to rent the IPD kit, so how could I go about doing it quickly? Thanks for any suggestions, as this is uncharted waters for me as of yet....though I've done a bunch of research. Muchas gracias in advance!
