heater valve for non-aircon car replacement 700

hi steve,

yep im uk based...

the firewall has a plate attached that has two pipes pierceing the firewall. The top pipe has a hose connected to the outside of the firewall, and one to the inside - this hose then goes to the heater core. The lower piercing has a hose connected on the engine bay side ofthe firewall, but on the indide has a large plastic valve apperatus, then a hose connected to the output ofthis that goes to the heater core. All hose joints are secured with 'jubilee' type clamps...

the valve itself has a arm that is rotate thru approx 90 degrees by the cable from the controls.

all this is supported on a metal plate that is succured by two studs passing thru the firewall into the engine bay, they emerger approx between the top and bottom heater hoses. This plate also has a right angled 'ledge' under the hoses that runs to the heater core (perhaps supports it). Now Im hopping I can remove the palstic control valve rather than have to take off that plate (if it does link into the core ...) I would also say its all in a complete PITA place above the pedal box....
