Headliner questions 200 1990

I have a question. I own a 1990 volvo 244 DL. I have had the interior completely replaced and upgraded with racing equipment. My headliner is very dirty and I was wondering if anyone knew how to clean it with out damaging the rest of my interior. i don't want to have something drip and instantly bleech my carpet.
