I Need A Lecture On Alignment 200 1986

1986 240: We're getting bad wear on the inside edge of the front tires, and the car wanders. I doesn't hold it's track and constantly needs minor steering corrections. The tire guys said the struts need replacing. Can someone explain what alignment adjustments are available on the 86 240's. (The only one that is obvious to me is the toe-in adjustment at the tie rod ends.) Also, how would bad strut cartridges cause wandering and bad tire wear if the car was recently aligned? He said there it can't be correctly aligned until I get new struts. I was under the impression that the struts basically dampen up and down movement of the front end. I don't yet understand what struts have to do with wandering and bad tire wear. Thanks for any help on this.
